Can you believe spring is not even a month away? The weather is starting to get warmer, and snow in the forecast is becoming rare. With that, car owners should be preparing for warmer temperatures. Because of this, the auto repair pros at Urban Autocare have prepared some tips on how to get your car ready, just in time for spring.

Although we highly suggest that you take your car to us for a spring tune-up, there are many things that you can do at home on your own to prepare your vehicle for the seasonal change.

  1. Check the engine. It’s time that you pop the hood to check all of your engine’s fluids. Make sure that they are full; if you aren’t sure where to look, reach for the glove box. Your vehicle’s owner’s manual should help you locate all of the engine fluid caps and valves. Most of these fluids should last in between all of your service appointments at our auto shops in Denver and Lakewood, but it’s likely that your car’s windshield wiper fluid will run low, especially with all of the snow we’ve endured this winter.
  2. Next, check the hoses and belts. Take a good look at your engine and spot all of the hoses and belts that are in sight. Pull on each of them to make sure that they are not loose, if they are, schedule an appointment with Denver Metro’s finest auto repair technicians at Urban Autocare. While checking hoses, be sure to gently squeeze on the radiator hose. If the hose is squishy and soft to the touch, it may be time for a replacement.

Be sure that you check your engine only after it has cooled. Contact us today to schedule your appointment, and stay tuned for our next blog: How to Prepare Your Car’s Exterior for Spring.
